Enemies Within the Church

Traditionally, socialists and communists openly opposed God and men of faith. Marx famously wrote that “[r]eligion is the sigh of the oppressed creature … and … the opium of the people.” Subsequently, communists realized that a revolution in the West would not succeed without subverting society from within. They started with religion, as people were likely to trust their clergy.  A false communist promise to eradicate poverty and oppression, which equates Christian charity with socialist welfare, was amalgamated with Biblical theology.

Thus, governments have co-opted churches to support mass migrations, despite Christian teachings on observing the natural law, avoiding crime, and loving one’s country. In the Biden administration, “the NGO Catholic Charities USA received $1.4 billion from government support compared with $1 billion in private donations. Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service reported more than $93.1 million in U.S. government grants in its 2021 financial statement, making taxpayer-funded grants more than 80% of its total support.”

Anglican “bishop” Mariann Edgar Budde urged President Trump in a church service to respect migrants and LGBTQ+ individuals. Instead of speaking about grace, holiness, and virtue, as would be fitting for a religious leader, she addressed controversial political matters.

Furthermore, leftists created the erroneous “liberation theology,” prevalent in Latin America. In regions with immense poverty, many Catholic clerics adopted a view that “work for social and economic revolution is central to the church’s task.” In a public speech in Mexico, Pope John Paul II stated: “People claim to show Jesus as politically committed, … as one involved in the class struggle…. This idea of Christ as a political figure, a revolutionary, as the subversive man from Nazareth, does not tally with the church’s catechesis.”

Lastly, numerous Christian groups have over-emphasized racial issues, especially from a left-wing perspective. After George Floyd’s death, many religious communities decried America’s alleged systemic racism. Instead of addressing the violence, instability, and unlawfulness of rioting or condemning the hatred of law enforcement entities and individuals, they focused on leftist political grievances against the perceived persecution of minorities.

Communists subvert religion to harm the faith of the West and effectively promote false promises, reducing Christianity to a materialistic heresy, equated with leftist “social justice” policies.
